Campus Facilities: MANIT provides hostel accommodation for students. First-year students are accommodated in rooms shared by three people, which can be a bit cramped. From the second year onwards, hostel rooms are allocated based on CGPA, allowing for better living conditions. The hostel fee is INR 17,500 per year for double accommodation in the second year. The quality of mess food is average, with a focus on South Indian cuisine for breakfast. Students can participate in the mess committee to help decide the menu. The library has a good collection of books, though not all required texts are always available. It is not open 24/7, which can be inconvenient for students who need to study late or early. The college is working on improving the library facilities and access. There is an SBI Bank as well as an SBI ATM inside the college campus.
Campus Life: MANIT provides a vibrant campus life with numerous opportunities for academic and personal growth. The sports facilities, clubs, and fests contribute to a well-rounded experience, while the supportive faculty and improving infrastructure aim to enhance the educational experience. The off-campus facilities complement the on-campus amenities, ensuring that students have access to all necessary resources and services. Despite some areas needing improvement, such as the ECE department's infrastructure and the quality of mess food, the college is committed to ongoing enhancements to provide a better experience for its students.
Faculty: My favorite faculty member at MANIT is Dr. Ravi Sharma from the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) department. Dr. Sharma is not only an exceptional educator but also a mentor who has significantly influenced my academic journey. One of the most memorable experiences with Dr. Sharma was during a project on embedded systems. He encouraged us to think creatively and push the boundaries of our understanding. Under his guidance, my team and I developed a prototype for a smart home automation system. Dr. Sharma provided invaluable feedback, helping us refine our project and understand the underlying principles more deeply. His open-door policy meant we could approach him with any questions or concerns, and he always made time to help us, no matter how busy his schedule. A significant number of professors and associate professors at MANIT hold Ph.D. degrees in their respective fields. They have conducted extensive research and published papers in reputed national and international journals. Several faculty members have prior industry experience, which they incorporate into their teaching. This practical insight is invaluable, as it prepares students for real-world challenges and equips them with relevant skills. Their connections with the industry also facilitate guest lectures, workshops, and placement opportunities for students.
