AIIMS 2026 – Eligibility Criteria

AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) 2026 has released eligibility guidelines for various undergraduate nursing programs. It is essential for applicants to understand these criteria to ensure successful application and avoid last-minute disqualification. The standards vary slightly for B.Sc. (Hons) Nursing, B.Sc. (Post-Basic) Nursing, and M.Sc. Nursing.

  1. Eligibility for AIIMS B.Sc. (Hons) Nursing

  • Nationality:Applicants must be Indian citizens.
  • Gender:Only female candidates are eligible for B.Sc. (Hons) Nursing.
  • Age Limit:Candidate must be at least 17 years old as on 31st December 2026. There is no upper age limit. Minimum date of birth: 31 December 2009.
  • Academic Qualification:Candidate should have passed Class 12 Board exam or equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as compulsory subjects.
  • Minimum marks:55% aggregate for Gen/OBC/EWS, 50% for SC/ST.

Candidates who are appearing for their Class 12 exam in 2026 or awaiting results are eligible to apply provisionally.

  1. Eligibility for AIIMS B.Sc. (Post-Basic) Nursing

  • Nationality:Must be Indian citizen.
  • Gender:Open to both male and female candidates.

Academic Qualification

  • Qualified in Class 12 (Senior Secondary) or Class 11 (if cleared before 1996).
  • Should possess a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) from an institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Registered Midwife (RM) with any State Nursing Council.
  • For male nurses who completed GNM before 2003, a six-month training in an accepted specialty (like OT Techniques, TB Nursing, etc.) is required.
  1. Eligibility for AIIMS M.Sc. Nursing

  • Academic Qualification:Candidates must possess B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing, B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Certificate)/Post-Basic, or B.Sc. Nursing (4 years) degree.
  • Minimum Marks:At least 60% marks (or 55% for SC/ST category) in the qualifying degree.
  1. Key Points for All Applicants

  • All eligibility must be fulfilled as per program guidelines by the time of document verification/admission.
  • Candidates failing to meet any criteria at the final stage may be disqualified from admission.
  • AIIMS does not accept NEET UG scores for nursing courses; a separate entrance exam is conducted.
